SlackFire

$ whatis slackfire

SlackFire is an iptables script written especially for Slackware, my favourite Linux distribution in this corner of the Galaxy. The main purpose of the script is to protect a stand-alone machine or a small network with a stateful firewall that can be configured easily but in big detail. The script can be used with other distributions but make sure it finds iptables.

SlackFire isn't perfect (yet) but I hope that README and this screenshot will give an idea of how it works and how it doesn't.

SlackFire comes packaged with a simple awk filter that helps checking syslog for records made by the script. Still, I do strongly recommend you download and install sf4sf written by Grant Coady. It is a much better tool than the script packaged with SlackFire.

SlackFire may be freely used, modified, and distributed under the terms of the GNU General Public License.

Your comments, ideas, and bug reports are welcome. It will be nice if you mention SlackFire in the Subject line. ;-)

The script has been last updated on October 13, 2009.

Enjoy!
